Apache HTTP Server Project. This is the website for the most popular and FREE web server around. You can find full documention, source code, and ready-to-run binaries. If you are on a virtually hosted unix box- this is most likely what you are running under. Also available for Win95/NT.
Xitami Server is an industrial strength server for NT and Unix. It also runs on 95/98, but but 95/98 won't cut it for a busy site. Nice web interface, cgi, ssi, and an integrated FTP server. Oh, its free too!
OmniHttpd Server For all you do-it-yourselfers! You can run this free http server on your Win95 or NT system at home. It is very easy to install and configure. Fun for the whole family.
Microsoft IIS 4.0 For those of you in the hosted or business Win-NT, environment, here is one place to start looking. NT only.
Netscape Servers Another popular family of servers that are available for many different environments including Unix and NT.
